Theme – Forensics and Contemporary perspectives in Victimology and Victim Assistance
Short description of the theme

This Symposium invites professionals, researchers, policymakers, students, activists, non- governmental organizations, and volunteers from a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds. This international and interdisciplinary event will focus on the use of forensic techniques for the identification, prevention, and investigation of crimes against victims. It will also highlight the contemporary and classical topics in Victimology, including the different forms of victimisation, theoretical perspectives in Victimology, and practical responses to victimisation. Special emphasis will be placed on invisible and vulnerable victims, such as the homeless, mentally ill, physically disabled, and LGBTQ population.

Abstract should not be longer than 200 words

Submission deadline is 15 July, 2024. No late submission will be accepted.

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the members of the scientific programme committee

All presenters must be registered for the symposium

Individual Paper Presentation

An individual paper is a submission by the author(s) that will be incorporated into any sessions with other related and similar abstracts. Presenters  should submit a title, Abstract of the presentation and a detail of their contact information(name, affiliation, postal address, phone number and email)

Roundtable Session

During a roundtable session, participants engage in in-depth discussion/debate of a specific and cohesive topic of research, programme or practice. It is organized by as Moderator who is responsible for soliciting participants and must submit a session title, an Abstract briefly describing the discussion for the roundtable as a whole and details of all discussants. It is limited to four discussants. The Moderator is often the Chair of the Roundtable. The contact information (name, affiliation, postal address, phone number and email) for the Moderator and the discussants should be submitted.

Author Meets Critic Section

This session is designed to bring authors of recently published books or articles in refereed journals together with discussants/panelists who would provide constructive and different viewpoints of the book/articles. Facilitators of Author Meets Critics should submit an Abstract that includes the title, author, publisher and date of publication, and brief description of the book. The details of the organizer and four panel participants should also be submitted.

Complete paper panel

A complete paper panel consists of a panel with prearranged presenters and focuses on common theme. The Facilitator/organiser must submit all panel details, including panelist names, institutional affiliations, paper titles, and with Abstracts from all of the presenters on the panel as a group. No more than four papers are permitted. A chair should also be listed. The organiser of this panel is responsible for recruiting all of the participants and their contact information (name, affiliation, postal address, phone number and email) should be submitted.

Poster Presentation

A Poster presentation consists of a display of the summary of research or practice of a specific topic. It provides the opportunity for the author to engage in a one and one conversation with Symposium participants about his/her research. It is the author’s responsibility to print and prepare the materials for the poster presentation which should include the title, Abstract, the Author’s name, and a discussion of the research. (Please note that if we are going to use this, we have to stipulate the size of the poster to fit a standard size easel and the presenters usually bring their own completed posters to be displayed).

Practitioner Session/From the Field Session

This session incorporates presentations from practitioners who will discuss recent developments in the field of Victimology and related fields. This session will provide attendees with “hand-on” experience in the field and the opportunity to connect with a variety of practitioners from a variety of backgrounds. Presenters should submit a title, Abstract, and details of their contact information.
