HIGH-LEVEL EVENT – 30th anniversary UN Declaration on victims’ rights – Qatar 2015

The WSV has special consultative status with the United Nations ECOSOC.  Delegates for the WSV regularly participate at the United Nations Commission and Congress on Crime and Criminal Justice; and, participate in other UN forums such as UN Women and the co-sponsored Empower Women.  The WSV is also a member of the UN NGO Alliance on Crime and Criminal Justice.

During the 2015 Congress on Crime and Criminal Justice the WSV co-sponsored a high-level event to mark the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Declaration of Basic Principles of Justice for Victims of Crime and Abuse of Power (1985).  The event also coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Basic principles and guidelines on the right to a remedy and reparation for victims of gross violations of international human rights law and serious violations of international humanitarian law (2005).
