The 18th WSV Symposium (01-06 September 2024) – National Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat (India)

The 18th International Symposium on Victimology will be hosted by the National Forensic Sciences University, India.  A symposium website is under construction.

The National Forensic Sciences University with the status of an Institution of National Importance is the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensic, behavioural, cybersecurity, digital forensics, and allied Sciences. It was established by the Government of India through Act, 2020 (32 of 2020) with the objective of fulfilling the acute shortage against the increasing demand for forensic experts in the country and around the world.

Dear WSV Members and others,
 
Thank you for your patience and understanding with the multiple e-mails surrounding the Coronavirus outbreak. We have heard from many of you and appreciate the feedback. Your safety and health are our primary concerns.
 
Until recently, we were truly hoping to move forward with this year’s course; however, the developments over the last few days have forced us to cancel the 36th Postgraduate Course on Victimology, Victim Assistance and Criminal Justice in May 2020.
 
This is the first time in the course’s 35-year history that it has been cancelled. Previously, the location of the course was moved, but never cancelled. However, we will remain ever resilient.
 
If you booked airfare and accommodation and have not already done so, please cancel your reservations as soon as possible. Please note that the co-directors will not be responsible for any airfare and accommodation cancellations. The same is true for any other travel expenses, if applicable.

 For two weeks, international experts and students will congregate at Stockton University in Atlantic City, New Jersey to share victimological research across multiple disciplines in an intensive short-course format.

The 2nd U.S. International Post-graduate Course on Victimology, Victim Assistance, and Criminal Justice will be taught in English and will cover such areas as: Theoretical Victimology • Victims and the Judicial Process • Victimization of Vulnerable Groups • History of Victimology • Victims’ Rights • Victim Services • Restorative Justice.
 
The fee for the course will cover lectures, daily continental breakfast and regional field trips. Affordable, on-campus housing is available in Atlantic City for an additional fee. Participants are responsible for finding accommodations should they choose to stay off campus (see link Atlanticcitynj.com) and for their travel arrangements.
